ECNU exclusively funds Simian Originality Award to memorize the famous Chinese historian and ECNU professor Lv Simian and to encourage creation of first class original works with world influence thus to promote the prosperity of humanities and social sciences in China. Simian Originality Award has been recognized by Ministry of Education as a humanities and social sciences award. The first Simian Originality Awards were granted in 2011 to Prof. Tian Yuqing’s Aristocracy Politics in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Prof. Xiang Chu’s Notes on Wang Fanzhu’s Poems, Prof. Qiu Xigui’s Outline of Philology and Prof. Yang Guorong’s On Tao. And the nomination award went to New Writing on History of Chinese Literature written by Prof. Zhang Peiheng and Luo Yuming.
