Approved by the leading team of National Philosophy and Social Science, the project supported by national social science fund, "The Establishment of Excavated Manuscripts Corpus" (Grant NO. 10&ZD118), led by Pro.Liu Zhiji, has passed the evaluation and gained 500 thousand RMB of fund provided by National Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science.

Project Supported by National Social Science Fund is currently the highest-level and most-sponsored project in social science field. The National Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science has organized a mid-term evaluation, due to the problems such as long researh period, overwhelming work load, and lack of research fund. According to the evaluation carried out by experts, the office will grant different levels of fund to encourage research work.

The project, founded in 2010, has till now yielded brilliant fruits, including one book, two referene books, over thirty research papers in which 20 were published on source journals of CSSCI.

The final result of this project is the online corpus, in which the Bronze Script Corpus, Qin Banboo Strip Corpus and Warring State Bamboo Strip Corpus are the first ones to go online (Beta version) so that experts can start to check the accuracy earlier and raise questions. The digital platform can perform as a most large store for excavated manuscript data and in the meantime constently update itself for the latest research results. Finally it will be a effetive incubation for ancient characters study. The project team reached an agreement that during the research process relevant books should be published to complete related study. Many of its suggestions for compilation have been well-received and supported by 4 national publication project and 1 provincial publication project. Among the published books, Colletion of Bronze Scripts of Shang and Zhou Dynasties (14 volumns) and Index of Chu Bamboo and Silk Scripts were supported by the National Publication Fund of Ancient Manuscrips in 2010. The Complete Collection of Chinese Characters (15 volumns) was supported by National Publication Fund. The Collected Interpretations on Ancient Characters (5 volumns) was supported by Shanghai Key Publication Fund, Shanghai Fund of Cultural Development. The Complete Index of Quoted Excavated Manuscripts was supported by National Key Publication Project and also is one of the representative work yielded by the project The Establishment of Excavated Manuscripts Corpus. The volumn of Guodian Chu Bamboo Strips was published by Shanghai People Publishing House in Dec. 2012.
